Conservatorium Maastricht, very international in its composition, is a close-knit community. Main subjects
The Classical Music programme offers the following main subjects: Bassoon, Cello, Choral Conducting, Clarinet/Bass Clarinet, Composition, Double Bass, Ensemble Conducting Contemporary Music, Flugelhorn, Flute, Guitar, Harp, Horn, Music Theory, Oboe, Orchestral Conducting, Organ, Percussion, Piano, Saxophone, Solo Singing, Opera, Tenor Tuba/Euphonium, Trombone, Trumpet, Viola, Violin, Wind/ Brass Band Conducting and Accompaniment (only in the Master’s programme).
Career prospects
Students are prepared for the profession of member of an orchestral/chamber music ensemble, composer, choral musician, accompanist, soloist, or teacher. Graduates work within all genres of music. They are active as performing, teaching or composing musicians, musical directors, or work for a music company, a recording studio or concert agency.
Major
In the first two years, the core curriculum (major) includes your main subject as well as music theory, music history, basic repertoire, entrepreneurship and lessons specifically related to your main subject.
Free Elective
Your free elective (minor) allows you to give a particular personal touch to your development as a musician, for example by playing in an ensemble, selecting additional programme components, and so on. If you choose to do a minor in teaching, this will take up the entire free elective.
